Dear Kristen and Family: I am so sorry you have lost your Dad. My thoughts have been with you. He must have been very proud of his daughter who gave so much of her caring nature to my dad at the care center. Blessings to you all. Linda

I always considered all of you Smiths as my family and I'm so sad to hear of Dick's passing. I'll never forget Friday nights in Cedar Rapids in the winter time. Meg's wonderful meals and desserts, the fireplace going, watching SNL and falling asleep. I was right at home. Such warm and heartfelt memories of a kind man who sense of humor was compelling. Dick always make me laugh. I will treasure forever all my memories of my 'brother' Dick.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy for the loss of one great man, Dick Smith. Dick left an image in this world that very few others could duplicate. I was most fortunate to first meet Dick at the GRADDA meetings. He was extremely intelligent and helpful to all who attended. He always put helping others first and foremost. Next, I would see him at the Veterans Outreach Center, at meetings to help with our job search efforts. Again, he gave outstanding advice to all those who attended. Then at the August Group, networking with others on our job search trail. He also had told me about his volunteer work at his church. I was not aware of all the other activities that Dick was involved with. I do not know how he was able to manage so much. Dick will be missed and not forgotten.

My sincere sympathies to Kristen & her family on your loss. I never met Mr. Smith but I'm sure I would have liked him a lot---with those kind eyes and smile, and his giving personality we would have been good friends. I do know Kristen and I see qualities in her that I read Mr.Smith had.........his legacy lives on in her giving heart and I'm sure he looks over her with great pride. Kristen also shared the battle her Dad fought with his cancer and I am sure he was comforted by the love & support he got from his family & friends. His wings he earned here on earth and now I hope the family is comforted knowing they will have a guardian angel who will always be with them.

Dick was a mainstay at Cameron, serving on the Board and in many volunteer capacities over the years. His starring role was Santa for our kids' Christmas party. There could not have been a better fit! He radiated joy and love when he was with those kids. We miss him.

Everyone at Cameron Community Ministries sends their sympathies. Dick's work here impacted many children and he will always be remembered as a wonderful "Santa" who sat patiently while 200+ children would come to see him and receive a toy - he was so caring to all and will be missed!

Dick and I worked together in Plate Manufacturing at Kodak from 1990 to 1993. We benefited tremendously from his technical knowledge and insight that were complemented by his determination and commitment to succeed. His friendship and support were a great help at a personal level. I am glad that he is at peace and send sympathies to his family and friends.

We are so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. He was a wonderful person and will be missed by all whom he spent time with. We remember his countless hours volunteering through Kiwanis of Spencerport. I had the honor of meeting Dick through my dear friend Kristen, his daughter. I got to know Dick working together at Red Wings games, as volunteers and at the Rhino's soccer games. Dick loved people, and he shared many of his talents and interests with others in the organizations that he belonged. I always enjoyed the conversations that we shared. Dick always made you feel comfortable with his easy going nature and friendly smile.

I treasure the many hours I spent with Dick--choir, Vestry, dinners, and so many others. He was so giving, so funny; a presence that people listened to. There is going to be a big hole in my life now. Who else is going to make me laugh like he could?
