Unexpectedly on February 14, 2022, at age 66. Predeceased by his father, James H. Hinson; sister, Julie Hinson Farar. Survived by his loving wife of 39 years Patricia A. (Bernard) Hinson; children, Christina (Douglas) Costello, Joshua (Krista) Hinson, Jennifer (Bryan) Ray; grandchildren, Tatum Hinson, Dominic Costello, Brayson Ray, Mila Hinson, Phoebe Costello; mother, Jeanette Hinson (William) Bohringer; sister, Karin (Toliver) Hill; brother-in-law, Daniel (Lynn) Bernard; nieces, nephews, and dearest friends George & Charlene Gridley.
Graveside service on April 8th at 10:00 am with military honors at Western New York National Cemetery, 1270 Indian Falls Rd. Corfu, NY 14036.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Disease Fund (A03802) University of Rochester 300 East River Rd. Box 270032 Rochester, NY 14627 in memory of Dennis Hinson.
Dennis H. Hinson, age 66, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 14, 2022. Dennis died a sudden unexpected death after suffering 18 years with military service-connected Parkinson’s.
On July 31, 1996, Dennis retired from 20 years of service in the US Army Special Forces, having achieved the rank of CW3 and received 6 Army Achievement Medals, 4 Army Commendation Medals, 1 Meritorious Service Medal, 1 Joint Service Commendation Medal, 3 Good Conduct Medals, an NCO Professional Development Ribbon, an Army Service Ribbon, an Overseas Service Ribbon, an Expert Infantry Badge, a Master Parachute Badge and a Scuba Diver Badge.
During his service Dennis served as an Expert Sniper, Infantry Soldier, Indirect Fire Infantry Man, Free Fall Parachutist, Combat Scuba Diver, Jumpmaster, Combat Engineer, Medic, Intelligence Sergeant, Weapons Sergeant, SF “A” Detachment Technician, Ski Instructor, 10th Special Forces Groups 1st Dive Officer, Battalion Operations Warrant Officer, 10th Special Forces Group S3 (operations) Assistant/Representative and Group Project Officer.
Following his military retirement Dennis worked 2 years for Northeast Land Consultants in soil science, then attended Clark University followed by a 15-year career with IBM as a Computer Systems Analyst.
Dennis was an outstanding soldier of excellence, a devoted and loving husband for 39 years of marriage to his wife, Patricia, and loved his children and grandchildren. His favorite bible verse was KJV 1 Corinthians 15:10 and he always said, “the only thing you can control in life is your attitude”. During his retirement he enjoyed his family, friends, computer gaming, music, and wood working.
He is sorely missed by all who were blessed to know him.
