Betty (Doyle) Hendershott (Swift)
N. CHILI - May 24, 2018 at age 78. Predeceased by her husbands, Bill Doyle and Duane Hendershott. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Chrysler-Liaros and Dean Liaros; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Chrysler (her father Ed Chrysler), Sean Liaros, Brendan (fiancee Terri Ehlers) Liaros; great grandchildren, Sean Jr., Arianna, J.J. & Brendan Liaros; sister, Madeline (John) Bentley; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and faithful companion Cocoa. Betty was a retired Bus Driver for Churchville-Chili School District. She was Past President & a Life Member of the Chili FD & Western NY Volunteer Fire Ladies Auxiliaries and a member of other firematic organizations. Betty’s Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 3-7 pm followed by her funeral service at 7 pm all at the funeral home, 15 West Ave. Spencerport. Interment Private. Life Story for Betty J. (Doyle) Hendershott
She was born March 11, 1940 in Rochester, NY to Orvil & Ethel Swift. Betty’s family had a nickname for her “Sandy”. The family moved to Brockport and that is where Betty graduated from Brockport High School. She married Bill Doyle on March 23, 1958, they had a daughter Debbie born December 4, 1958. Bill passed away July 17, 1987 2 days before his 48th birthday.
Betty met Duane (Dean) Hendershott again in 1987. Dean was a friend of Bill & Betty. Betty & Dean married August 13, 1988. Dean had 2 daughters and two sons, which there has been no contact since Dean’s death in August 1998.
Bill & Betty owned Bill Doyle’s Towing for several years until he became sick. Family vacations were usually weekend trips, because of his business. Betty & Bill owned a Harley Davidson full dresser Motorcycle. They took a 3-week trip and road around the entire state of Florida with friends Ernie & Carol Miller around 1980. Betty was involved in Ladies Auxiliary when Bill joined Chili Fire Department in 1962. Betty drove school bus for Churchville Chili till she retired in 2000. Betty loved to laugh and loved her family the entire family. She loved being a bus driver. Loved animals she had several during her life time. She left her companion Cocoa and 2 cats, Oreo & Jazzie. She loved the Motorcycle, even had her own until she wiped out in Letchworth State Park.
Betty became President in the Chili FD Auxiliary in 1972. She joined the Western NY Vol. Fireman’s Association and was President 1990-1991. She is a life member in both Auxiliaries. She also was a member of Northern Central Vol. FA Ladies Auxiliary of the State Firemen’s Assoc. Her second husband Dean was a volunteer fireman in the Attica FD.
