Obituary of Linda J Talbott

Linda Joyce Talbott, 74, of Spencerport, NY, passed away surrounded by family on May 27, 2018 after a long illness.  Linda was born in Dunbar, West Virginia on September 23, 1943. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in History from Morris Harvey College in Charleston, West Virginia (now the University of Charleston).  Morris Harvey is where she met and married her husband of 54 years, Bill Talbott.

Linda lived a life full of Faith, Family and Friends. She was an active member of the Spencerport Wesleyan Church where she accompanied services playing the piano and organ, founded the chime choir and directed the annual cantatas. Francis of Assisi is to have said, “Preach the gospel at all times; when necessary, use words.”.  This is how Linda lived.  She shared God’s love with others through her service to others.  She was gracious and generous with her time and gifts.  

Linda was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She delighted in celebrating family and special moments, creating memories and making traditions.  She invested in her children through active involvement in their childhood activities and through interest and support in their adult endeavors. She invested in her grandchildren through interest in their activities and by being present for concerts and competitions. While raising her family, Linda worked different jobs, but her favorite was being an educator. Linda retired from teaching American History at Churchville Chili after 26 years.  She loved bringing history to life and shared this love with people wherever life took her.

Linda loved serving people. Much of her time was spent helping others whether it was through her work volunteering at church, making music with and for other people, stamping cards to bring joy/encouragement to others or to preserve memories for those she loved.  Linda loved learning. She valued knowledge, education and friendships which made P.E.O., an international philanthropic organization, a perfect place to devote much of her time.  Linda served many roles in her local chapter. She is a Past State President of the New York State chapter and also served on the international scholar committee. 

In her retirement, Linda found the art of stamping.  Linda loved creating cards, gifts and scrapbooks as a way to show love and compassion to others, to encourage and celebrate others.  She also loved teaching others to do the same. To share a memory visit www.walkerbrotherfh.com.

Linda is survived by her loving husband, Bill Talbott; her children Trey (Lori) Talbott, Kim (Chris) Arnold, Justin Talbott; her grandchildren Abigail, Madison and Jackson; her brother Ralph (Annelies) Mullens; her sister Phyllis Krueger; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Linda is predeceased by her mother and father, Willard and Lettie Mullens; her brother Don Humphrey; and her brother-in-law Gus Krueger.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 31^st from 3-7pm at the Walker Brothers Funeral Home, 15 West Ave, Spencerport, NY. A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, June 1^st at the Spencerport Wesleyan Church.
