Lawrence was a childhood friend. We were in high school together, and we both played in the band. For a time, as a teenager, he worked for my father at the hatchery. What I remember most is his perennial happy nature. He was one of the good ones.
Judd and I taught in the art department at RIT together in the early '60s. In 1970 my wife and I took off for Maine but remained long distance friends with Judd and Julie. Judd didn't have a separate artistic life that operated when he was in his studio; he was a full-time creative person whose sensitivity to his world was always switched on. And he managed to do this without taking himself too seriously; Judd was a funny funny man. And a dear friend. Bye, Judd. I'll miss.you. Stu

I spent a lot of time in the Williams home on Main St in Spencerport.
Judd truly had an impact on my life growing up as a young man.
I will cherish my many fond memories of Judd and Julianna.
Judd was an amazing artist, but he was so much more than that!
I recall watching him work for hours on end, on a very very large "foot" sculpture in the barn. (where is that today)
I am very sad to hear this news...If I can do anything for the family, please just ask...I would be honored.

Judd’s warm and accepting manner opened a path for his students to peruse their ideas as artists. He was an artist, teacher and advisor, all balanced with intellect, humor and a caring attitude. His art will endure and may his memory be eternal.

I was one of Judd's RIT students many years ago. He profoundly shaped me not only in my artistic development but also as young and maturing human. He was always kind and thoughtful in every interaction. Always in a good humor-even when faced with personal duress. He treated his students like they were all amazing. He made RIT a better place while he was there. His "surprise" face and sound of his cowboy boots will never fade from my memory. Rest in Peace, Judd, you done good.

There are many great memories of those early years.
We were colleagues for the many years until he retired.
I always have had the greatest respect for Judd and his creative abilities.
He was an extraordinary artist!
