Obituary of Walter Litolff

March 9, 2016. Age 86. Walter is predeceased by his wife Jean (Campbell) Litolff, son Brian Litolff & son-in-law Billy Cleary. He is survived by his children, Pamela Cleary, Bruce (Carla) Litolff, Lorie Litolff, Suzanne "Suds" Litolff; grandchildren Jason (Amy) Earsing, Bridgette (Tim) Montesano, Brian Deel, Eric Cleary, Briana (Kevin) Lynch, Cale Walter Litolff, Jesse Woods; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marian Buczek, Bob (Jane) Litolff, Midge (Jim) Barry; several nieces and nephews. Walter was a Past Post Commander of VFW Post 6595, member American Legion, Liederkranz Club & Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 2244, Churchville. Walter's visitation will be at the Funeral Home, 15 West Avenue, Spencerport, Saturday 3-7 PM. His Funeral Service will be celebrated Sunday 12:30 PM at the Funeral Home, followed by his burial in Creekside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Honor Flight, PO Box 23581. Rochester. NY 14692 in Walter's memory. Walter grew up in Bulls Head Neighborhood on Brown Street. He went to school at Saints Peter & Paul Elementary school. Walter was one of 7 children. Walter played basketball , football, boxed and played baseball while he attended Edison Tech. At the age of 17 Walter enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his first discharge from WWII, Germany he married his one love Jean at Saints Peter & Paul Church on June 18, 1949. Walter was introduced to photography during HS and this began his love of photography. At the age of 18 years old, Walter began working in photography while serving during the Nuremberg Trials. He also photographed post war buildings. He joined the reserves after coming home and worked on the railroad with his father, Charles. Walter was called in and served his country once again in Korea. While in Korea, Walter would photograph the battlefields. Upon returning home from his tour in Korea Walter attended RIT and RBI on the GI bill. Walter also did freelance photography for Sibley's. Walter started Litolff Studios. He worked there until he was 62 then handed the business over to his son, Bruce. Walter was loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, family was everything to him. Some activities Walter enjoyed was bowling, shooting, gardening, golf, coached his son's; Bruce and Brian; little league team. He traveled to many countries around the world with his wife Jean. He enjoyed Westerns, Mash, Cheers, Barney Miller, Carol Burnett, Bonanza, Gun Smoke. He loved music. Walter and Jean were great dancers. Walter had a great sense of humor, charismatic, well loved, story teller, creative and social. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
