Obituary of Rita Walzer

January 1, 2016. Rita is predeceased by her husband Irwin H. Walzer; son Thomas G. Walzer. She is survived by her children, Richard (Barbara) Walzer, James (Nancy) Walzer, David R. Walzer & Cathy (Jim) Grambow; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Joan Pratt, Sylvia Burr & Virginia Hamilton; several nieces and nephews. Rita's visitation will be Monday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Funeral Home, 15 West Ave., Spencerport. Her Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Tuesday, 11AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Spencerport followed by her interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to St. John the Evangelist Church, 55 Martha St., Spencerport, NY 14559 in Rita's memory. Rita was born March 13, 1919 to her parents George & Irene (Barry) Hamilton in Rochester, NY. During her grade school years she enjoyed roller skating, dancing and of course, dancing while on roller skates. During her teenage years she added outdoor activities to include boating, swimming and water skiing. She had a love of music. Her favorite performers were Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin & Elvis. During her adult years Rita enjoyed knitting and crocheting. she always looked forward to creating something for her grand kids to wear or for their dolls to wear. Christmas time found her baking skills being put to use. She would become very excited about baking Christmas Cookie Cut outs for her family and friends to enjoy. Her recipes have found their way to the next generation in her family for their continued enjoyment. Being a kid at heart Rita would buy special ornaments for her grandchildren for Christmas. Every year moving forward as those special ornaments are hung with care Rita's love of family will always be recalled. During her quiet times Rita enjoyed reading and watching television. Rita "particularly" loved lobster. She also loved eating soup. It could be any kind of soup. She loved all "soupie." Eating wasn't the only thing she enjoyed while seated around a table. Rita enjoyed playing cards too. Times spent with family and friends while playing May I and Skat were enjoyable times for her. Her faith was very important to her. She regularly attended mass until she physically no longer could do so. Rita also enjoyed travel. She had a retirement home in Palm Desert, CA that she loved spending time at. When visiting other she would look forward to seeing Cathy and her son, Dave in San Jose, CA. July 18, 1941 Rita Hamilton Becomes Bride Miss Rita Hamilton and Irwin Walzer of the Naval Reserve Station, Newport, RI were married in a lovely ceremony yesterday morning in Holy Rosary Church. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. George Hamilton of Lake View Park and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. & s. Herbert Walzer of Steko Avenue. Given in marriage by her brother Syrl Hamilton, the bride wore a white marquisette gown, a finger tip veil and she carried red roses with sweet peas. Mrs. Edward Kloski was the matron of honor and Miss Rita Redmond was maid of honor. Mrs. Kloski wore an aqua silk organdie gown and Miss Redmond wore pale pink. Both honor attendants carried old fashioned bouquets. Miss Virginia Hamilton and Miss Sylvia Hamilton were bridesmaids and wore light yellow and pale orchid organdie frocks and carried old fashioned bouquets. Edward Kloski was the best man. The bride's mother wore a beige gown and a corsage of yellow tea roses and the bridegroom's mother was gowned in pale blue, with a corsage of red roses. A wedding breakfast was served at the Home Dining Room, after which the couple left for the Thousand Islands. She had a wonderful sense of humor and would always take the high road when looking at life and dealing with all that life handed her. Everyone loved her and she was well known in the neighborhood for her wonderful homemade pies she shared with everyone. Rita will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
