Obituary of Margaret Cornell

Margaret Helen MacWhorter Cornell, age 90, of Barker, NY, and Lakeland, Florida, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 3:54AM on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. She is survived by her; son, Douglas (Lynda); son-in-law, Dr. James Revell; grandchildren, Joel (Brianne) Cornell, Elisabeth Revell (Jon) Grunert, Leah (Rev. Matthew) Nickoloff, Nathaniel Revell, Rebekah Cornell, and Aaron Cornell; brother-in-law, Kenneth Clark. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Benjamin; son, Benjamin Arthur; daughter, Gail Marie Revell; grandson, Joshua Cornell; sister Jane Clark of Aurora, CO. "Peg", as her family and friends knew her, was the younger of two daughters born to Ellison and Jennie (Doyle) MacWhorter, in Pittsburgh, PA on February 10, 1925. Her family relocated to Millport, NY where she later met the youngest of the Cornell boys, eventually marrying Ben on her 19th birthday. These best friends went on to live and love each other for more than 70 years! Together, they were blessed with four children and though they were grieved as parents to return three of them back into the loving hands of the Lord, they rejoiced in the knowledge that their salvation was secure. They have created a lasting legacy through the lives of their children, grandchildren and a growing number of great-grandchildren who are busy planting their own "gardens of faith". On behalf of her growing brood, Peg found joyful purpose and great pleasure in hunting for bargains at countless garage sales where she would discover those special treasures and proudly present them when her family would next visit. She also derived enormous delight in making people laugh. In their retirement years, Ben and Peg were blessed to live in the care of numerous wonderful communities where Peg quickly earned a reputation as a "character" who could be counted on to keep the staff giggling and shaking their heads. For nearly three decades these "snowbirds" lived at Lighthouse Christian Camp in Barker, NY during the temperate Western New York months and at the Light & Life Park in Lakeland, FL during the winters. They later made their home at Heritage Village in Gerry, NY for five years before relocating to Atria Senior Living in Penfield, NY and then Heather Heights in Pittsford, NY to be near their son and family. Finally, they were welcomed at The Living Center in Pittsford, NY in October, 2013 where they lived together until Ben was called Home on July 17th, 2014. In His goodness, The Lord blessed Peg and her family with another fourteen months of treasured memories until He finally bid her welcome to enter His Kingdom on September 23rd, 2015. The family would like to thank the administrators and staff at these wonderful retirement facilities as well as Highland Hospital and the Pluta Cancer Center for the loving and compassionate care that they provided. A Homegoing celebration will be held October 17th 1:30PM at Pearce Memorial Church, 4322 Buffalo Road, North Chili, NY 14514. The committal service will be held at 1:00PM at the North Chili Rural Cemetery in North Chili, NY. "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4 ESV
