Obituary of Charlotte Hugh

Charlotte was born on October 23, 1937 to Rudolf and Friedel Knack. She grew up in Landau, Germany. She had an older brother, Manfred and a younger brother, Werner. Charlotte completed High school then continued on to Secretarial School for College. Charlotte married Harry Hugh in 1957. They had a son, Gordon Hugh. Charlotte loved to travel. She traveled to 44 States over the years and made 17 trips to Germany. Some of her favorite activities included baking, knitting. She made baby clothes for friends, loved to play Scrabble and Euchre card game. She loved to watch sports and read books and loved the Hallmark Channel. Charlotte was very personable and loved to help people. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Cupid Is Everywhere Charlotte was a school girl in Germany who was studying English when she lost her American "Pen Pal". She had seen a picture of young Harry Hugh, a friend of her brothers, who was living in Canada. Charlotte decided to start writing to Harry, and was pleased when he corresponded back. The two continued to write for a couple of years. However, the writing finally stopped. Charlotte heard that Harry had moved to the States. She heard nothing more for about 2 years, and then suddenly she received a letter from Harry. He told her that he had joined the US Navy and was currently in the hospital. In looking through his "little black book", he found her name and decided to write. This time the correspondence took a more serious nature. On Charlotte's 19th birthday, she received an engagement ring and 19 roses from her Pen Pal Harry. (The two had never met or even talked on the phone at that point.) Charlotte was ready for adventure and accepted the ring. Her father said that she could be engaged as many times as she wanted to, but she could not marry until he met the young man. About 7 months later, the Navy sent Harry for a tour of duty in Germany, and that is when the couple finally met. Five months later, and after going through a jungle of paperwork, Charlotte became Mrs. Harry Hugh.
