Obituary of Miriam Rice

Rice, Miriam "Jo" Spencerport: Suddenly on Sunday June 30th of respiratory complications. Jo was born in Cincinnati, OH and moved to Spencerport with her husband and sons. Predeceased by her husband, Jack Rice and son, Dan Rice. She is survived by her sons David Rice & Dennis Rice; granddaughters, Chelsie (Heather Dobbins) Rice & Courtney Rice. Miriam was born on May 20, 1932 in Cincinnati Ohio, one of Charles and Miriam (Porter) four children. During her youth would have found Miriam swimming across the Ohio River - a family activity. In 1952, she joined the Air Force where she would meet her future husband, Jack. Jack and Miriam moved to North Tonawanda and later to Spencerport NY, as Jack began working for the Eastman Kodak Company. During this time they raised two sons, David & Dennis. Miriam would bring them back to Ohio, to swim across the same Ohio River. Later on she was blessed with two granddaughters, Chelsie & Courtney. Miriam enjoyed hiding Easter baskets in unique places, to challenge the to find the baskets. She enjoyed gardening, keeping the house clean, word puzzles and a good love story. Miriam was a woman who prided herself on being there when needed. She was always giving and concerned about others. Miriam's visitation will be held 11AM-1PM on Friday at the funeral home, 15 West Ave. in Spencerport. Her funeral service will follow at 1PM. Interment in Fairfield Cemetery. Donations may be sent to the Aurora House, 2495 S Union St, Spencerport, NY 14559 in Miriam's memory.
