Dear Marilyn and family, I wanted to take a moment to let you know that we considered Ron a very special person and part of our extended family. My daughter Kate Sherman, and son Matthew were students of Ron. He was a large part of Kate's secondary education, as she was in all the musicals at Gate Chili, and part a part of the High School chorus. I will miss running into him at Wegmans, and our little "catch up" chats. He was a profound influence on Kate, and many other. I was saddened to hear of Mr. Terpening's passing. He was my very first music teacher at Washington Irving when I started playing the flute. He was always so encouraging and nurturing that music became a lifelong love. Every remembrance of him always brings a smile and a feeling of gratitude. In my first message, I said I graduated with Ron's sister Elsie in 1946, well, Elsie was his Aunt, not his sister - chalk it up to a "senior moment". I just finished viewing his Video Tribute, and will look at it many times, as it is so beautiful, and has many pictures of his brothers and sisters, all of whom I know. To Ron's Family, My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time, and hope knowing so many cared and loved Ron, in the future will help ease the pain of your loss. I got to know all of his family, as my late husband and I worked with both of his parents at the Cato Show Print many years ago. As time passed, his Mom, Millie became like an older sister I never had, and we lived in apartments at Hillview for many years. His late sister Elsie graduated with me in 1946. His sister Shirley and I are email "buddies" and keep in touch often. I have many memories of enjoying the musical talent of them all, and my life is so much richer for having known the Terpening family. May God's loving care sustain you in the days ahead.
