Rene was a beloved friend of my mother, Monica McKinney. They shared many childhood memories. Rene was always a smiling, gentle, sweet presence. I loved to see her and talk with her any time I visited Spencerport. I am sure she and Mom are getting together now to arrange some lovely celebration in Heaven. I will miss her.

I was so sorry to hear of Rene's (Miss Smith as most knew her) passing. She was the kind and gentle English teacher (1958 for me)that everyone in Spencerport will always remember. My love, prayers and condolences are with her family during this difficult time.

This photo captures exactly the sweet woman I remember as my English teacher at Spencerport High School. I was in the class of 1960. Miss Smith, in her quiet, graceful way, modeled her love of literature and language. I am so much richer for having had her influence in my life as a student.

Rene was a blessing in our lives. How we enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners together! Wednesday evening Mass and the rosary will always bring precious memories of Rene close to us. And yes, how she did walk about her beloved village of Spencerport for years and years and years! Whenever we were in Rene's company at least 2 or 3 people would stop and ask "Are you Miss Smith? You were my English teacher!" She would remember the person or a relative of theirs! She was amazing! Her love of English, literature, God, and her quick wit were blessings she shared with us.She will be greatly missed and always remembered. Sincere sympathy to her family.

Rene Smith was a very good friend of my mother Ruth Brewer who also taught in Spencerport. She was a lifetime family friend and the godmother of my sister Joan. I remember her as very bright, sweet, and thoughtful. She and my mother had a lot in common and I know Ruth and Rene are back together now God love them. People like Rene Smith are rare and treasured by those who are lucky to cross their path in life. God Bless her and hold her forever. Fondly, Rick Martin (son of Ruth Brewer Martin) - San Diego, CA

Rene was an early fellow teacher with my mother, Ruth Brewer and my aunt Louise Sargent Brewer in Spencerport, and they were lifelong good friends. Rene was my sister's god mother. I remember Rene visiting our house when I was young, and I can't remember a sweeter woman. God bless you, Rene!

Miss Smith was my elementary English teacher back in the early 70's. She was a great teacher. Then in 1993 i saw her in St.Marys when i awoke in recovery and said to my mother i think that was my English teacher, so i called her over and she remembered me. She was such a nice lady. Also seen her walking in Spencerport quite a few times. Just want to say to the family, iam so very sorry to hear about your loss. She will be missed very much.
