Uncle Dick was a giant of a man with a bigger heart. My memories are of the fireworks we use to light off, the time he took me up to the 1000 islands and we would wash up in the lakes with a bar of soap. So funny.... he also was brave enough to take me golfing, Uncle Dick will be missed, that great smile and the powerful handshake. I will miss you Uncle Dick....

We're so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Carol, Dennis, Scott and family. Uncle Dick was always the life of every Holiday with the Pickerings! When I was young he'd always pick me up and hang me upside down or throw me up to the ceiling.. I thought he was the strongest man in the world and never wanted him to stop!! I know wherever he is now they are having fun, telling stories and eating well. What a very special man. We'll miss you.

I remeber the first time I met Uncle Dick, he was a very intimidating person, but his big smile and huge heart made you forget that. You knew from the moment he spoke to you that this was a great guy with an awesome sense of humor. I'll miss him....XOXOXO

Uncle Dick; just saying that name puts a smile on my face. We shared the same birth date, September 25th. He had such a huge heart. The teddy bear uncle never showed up without the almond "kuchen" he knew we loved! He made a point to remember everyone's favorites. He always asked about our family and was genuinely interested in what everyone was doing. I know losing my Mom last year was so hard on him. They are together again. :) We will miss you.

Dick was a wonderful brother-in-law. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt of his back and then ask what else you needed. The video and written tribute was a true testimony of his love of life and his family. We love you and will miss you very much. Until we meet again...xxxxxxoooooo

I was blessed to have the most wonderful father-in-law for 25 years. From the very first day I met him, he treated me like his daughter. He taught us many things -- mainly the importance of family -- and he has left us with so many wonderful memories. He was a true gem who lived life to its fullest. My heart aches for our loss, but I know he is in a much greater place. He will be with us in spirit forever. I love you Dad. Sherie
