Obituary of Ruth Johnston

Ruth L. Johnston | Visit Guest Book Age 90. January 16, 2011. Ruth is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Robert W. Johnston. She is survived by her children, Jane Snyder, Nancy Miller, James (Pat) Johnston; granddaughter, Katherine (Christopher) Gray; great-granddaughter, Julie Paige Gray; surviving members of the Crazy Quilters. Ruth was President of the Women's Society of the Methodist Church. She taught Tailoring in the Spencerport Schools. Ruth was an Executive Board Member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension. She was a member of the Crazy Quilters for 40 years. Ruth's Funeral Service will be 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment in Fairfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450, in Ruth's memory. Ruth loved animals, the outdoors, wildlife and bird watching. She was a National Wildlife Association Lifetime member. Ruth was an Ex Board Member of Cornell Cooperative Ex. She belonged to Crazy Quilters and Womens Society of the Methodist Church. She loved card playing, and traveling and car rides. Ruth enjoyed antiques, gardening, she was an avid reader, and loved watching Hummingbirds. She was a housewife, but loved taking care of her home. She was an accomplished seamstress and she enjoyed quilting. Ruth liked reading & sewing. Her fravorite flower was Pansies. She was proud of her looks, and she had a sense of humor. she was quiet and sarcastically funny. She was strong willed, fiercely independent, talented with her hands, creative, gentle and imaginative. Ruth bought a 1968 Red Camero with Black and White Hounds Tooth Interior. But, what gave her the most enjoyment in life, was her children.
