Rick hired me back in 2004 to work security at the movie theatres. He was always good natured and had a smile on his face. I only worked part time for him,but I can honestly say that he was the best boss I ever worked for to this day !! What a loss for all of us! I will pray for comfort for Ricks family and close friends

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Barton family at this sad time. Rick was a great guy who helped me obtain my security license and put me to work when I needed some extra income. He was very supportive of all his employees at National Security and a very devoted father and husband. You will be missed Rick, it was my privilege to know you.

Ellen, Ben and Hannah, Rick would always say to me "Life is Good" or "Drive fast you get there sooner" then the Rick smile would breakout and he would share a story of Ben at school, of Hannahs' softball exploits or of Ellen helping others. At work, in a cart or at the club Rick told some of the best but more often than not the worst jokes we ever heard that still managed to have us all LOAO. We can not imagine the depth of your loss but we know that you all were the most important people to Rick each and every day. Hannah, just a note to you. Your last Homerun, that ball you gave to your Dad - that simple action meant so much to your father. When he told me of it he spoke softly, with joy, obvious joy. Ellen,, Rick and I spoke of being a husband and a father often and of how rewarding and wondeful both are. Again, he just smiled all the time which I really believe led to my marriage and fatherhood. Lately, my daughter and I have been doing a lot of Fist Bump "Boom"s - Rick taught my little girl how to "Boom". Our thoughts, our hearts and prayers for you all in your loss. May Rick's smile be forever in all of us. Tre' and Rich

Known Rick for 30+ yrs. Vacationed with Rick & Ellen,Ben & Hannah on Tar Island. Xmas gathering was always a favorite time every year at the Barton home. Friends, neighbors, and relatives would come together to celebrate the X-mas season. Hunting season for deer will be a special memory for me, as Rick and I hunted together behind the house. I would always look for Rick coming out in the morn to get in his tree stand. Nothing more comforting than to have a friend out in the woods with you.I have never met a more gracious, helping, and caring person than Rick. This I find true with Ellen,Ben,& Hannah. A nicer family you'll never find. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family, and Rick will fondly live on in our hearts for his laughter, his support, and most importantly his love for family and friends.

The video tribute for Rick is amazing! I think that it shows what the major focus and love of his life was, his family. We thank he and Ellen for raising an amazing daughter that we someday hope to call daughter. Our love, thoughts and prayers go to Rick's entire family now and in the days to come.

Rick, the family got together this evening to talk about our memories of you. We talked about when we were known as the three little indians and continued up to this year. I can only hope that you could hear the love and laughter that we all shared. We will all miss you but know that you will live on in our hearts.
