Obituary of Lois Pauline Gringer

Lois Pauline Gringer (Guppenberger)

Gringer, Lois Pauline 92, of Spencerport, NY, drew her final breath and entered into the presence of our Lord on February 6^th 2023, at her home, with loving family around her. She was born in Batavia, NY on February 2^nd 1931, to August and Mary Guppenberger. She is survived by her loving husband John Gringer Sr. of 70 years, children JoMarie (Michael) Stank Sr., Kathleen (William) Langen, John (Nicki) Gringer Jr., Gus (Susan) Gringer, Michael (Karin) Gringer and Julie (Bert) Stromquist III; grandchildren Kirsten Weimer, Katie (Shaun) Arnold, Karen (Brian) Miller, Michael (Kim) Stank Jr., AJ (Debra) Miller Jr., Sissy (Rick) Horch II, Aaron (Aysa) Gringer, Casey Gringer, Jason (Brittany) Gringer, Beau (Gina) Gringer, Carrie Medeiros, Jason (Amber) Seeler, Ricky (Stephanie) Triassi, Nick (Liz) Triassi, and Rachel (Corey) Houghtling; great-grandchildren Jacob, Joshua, Pierce, Reid, Delaney, Britton, Sierra, Chyler, Ariella, Mason, Kinsley, Mavryn, Loic, Ricky, Lincoln, Grace, Patrick, Norah, Bear, Adriana, Gia, August, and Johnny. Brother Jim and sister Barb Guppenberger, many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Lois was born and raised in Batavia, NY.  She graduated from Batavia High School in 1948 while also working at the Batavia Lumber Co., which she continued until 1956. She married her high school sweetheart in 1952 and had her first of 6 children in 1953. The family moved to Spencerport, NY in 1963 with 5 children and added a 6^th child in 1967.  Lois was a homemaker, taking care of her kids (and dozens of others) until she entered the retail business in the mid-80’s. She retired in her early 70’s and became more involved with her church.  Lois loved to travel with her siblings and family. She never missed a chance to watch her kids play sports and threw a mean cornhole bag!  She loved to help care for her 15 grand and 22 great-grandchildren. In her later and quieter years, she enjoyed the simplicities in life, like watching nature and listening to her many wind chimes. Lois exemplified a servant’s heart, concerned with everyone else’s comfort before her own. It may be difficult to find a picture of her with a smile, but her home was always filled with love and laughter. She was greatly loved by her family and friends and will truly be missed.  

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, February 13, 2pm at St. John The Evangelist Church, 55 Martha Street, Spencerport, NY.
