Obituary of Dale J. Cummings
Dale James Cummings passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at age 69. Dale resided with his family in Hilton, New York. He was born on June 16, 1953, in Syracuse, New York to Francis (Scrappy) and Peggy Cummings. Dale is predeceased by his parents as well as his 1st wife Mary Orr-Cummings. Survived by his wife, Guadalupe “Lupe” of 20 years; children, Sean Cummings, Kerrin Cummings, Shannon (Mike Baccari) Cummings, Dorina (John) Hayes, and Jessica (Michael) Moore; grandchildren, Hailey Webb, Marie (Benjamin) Chernjavsky, Kathryn Hayes, Matthew Hayes, John Hayes, Lauren Hayes, Monica Hayes, Samantha Hayes, and Isabella Moore; great-grandchild, Felicity Chernjavsky; sisters, Judy (Cliff) Chetwin and Barb (Ellen Burns) Cummings; niece, Jeni Chetwin.
After graduating from high school, he joined the US Navy and worked as an Aviation Structural Mechanic in Texas. After the Navy, he worked at Cessna Aircraft and Smith-Corona as an apprentice Instrument Maker and later received the Journeyman Model Maker NYS Certification. He moved his family to Rochester to work for Eastman Kodak which later became ITT Space Systems, then Excelis Inc. He ultimately retired from Harris Corp. in 2013.
In 2020 he was contracted by Boeing Company supporting NASA and the Artemis rocket in Louisiana and Florida. Dale loved his job as much as he enjoyed his hobbies. Rochester General Hospital was his hospital of choice and regularly donated in support of the hospital.
Dale was a member of the American Legion and the Northstar Sportsman Club. His hobbies included woodworking, NASCAR, and auto mechanics, which of course must include those beautiful classic cars and motorcycles. He was a Buffalo Bills fan, enjoyed target shooting, and loved traveling with his family.
Visitation for Dale will be on Sunday, November 6 from 1-4 pm at the funeral home, 15 West Ave., Spencerport. An Irish wake for Dale will be held on Sunday as well, at Clutch on the Canal, 94 S. Union St., Spencerport from 2-6 pm. His funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 7 at 1 pm at St. John the Evangelist Church, 55 Martha St., Spencerport.
