Dear Dr. Hurley:
I was saddened to learn of the recent passing of your Beloved upon reading the May Alumni eNewsletter. What a special picture you chose to share. I will always remember Janice for being a kind, caring nurse who served the Lord wholeheartedly and who championed the needs of others, particularly the disenfranchised during the time I was privileged to benefit from her mentorship and wisdom while studying nursing at Roberts. She set the bar high with her expectations for us as students, but with the passage of time and with maturity, I remain ever grateful for the influence she has haf on my practice as a Public Health Nurse working primarily with young pregnant teens throughout my career. It was a privilege several years ago to have had the opportunity to personally thank her and to also ask that she share how grateful I was to sit under your tutelage as well. To this day, I still find myself referencing a book you kindly handed me in your office one afternoon (out of exasperation I’m sure)…The Little, Brown Handbook.
You and your family were blessed to have had Janice in your lives for so many years, but with that closeness comes a deeper sense of loss. May our gracious Lord be with you and may He tenderly comfort you with His care and compassion. Sorrow runs deep, but love runs deeper.
He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge.
