Obituary of Robert J. Kincaid

Spencerport – Robert “Bob” Kincaid passed peacefully on December 31, 2021, one day prior to his 83^rd birthday. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Suzanne (Charles) and his children Kellie Adami and Gregory (Christine) Kincaid. Bob was also blessed with 4 grandchildren: Gregory (Jill), Jeffrey (Laurine), Michael (Courtney) Kincaid and Conner Adami, along with 4 great grandchildren: Landon, William, Makenna, and Graham. In addition, siblings Connie (Paul) Petersen and Donald (Rita) Kincaid along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents Edson and Virginia and brother Rollin “Charlie”.

Bob was born and raised in Cuba, NY and often spoke about growing up in the Allegany County small town with great fondness. His dad Edson “Ike”, was a high school physical education  teacher and his mother Virginia, was a kindergarten teacher—both in the Cuba school district. So, it was no wonder that he ended up transferring from Moravian University in PA, to pursue an education degree at SUNY Brockport. After graduating from Brockport, Bob secured a teaching job at Spencerport Central Schools. There he met the principal’s secretary and the love of his life, Sue Charles—and the rest is history.

Bob was passionate about supporting local youth through teaching and coaching. If our family had a nickel for every time we heard “your dad was my favorite teacher”, he could’ve retired early. During his 33 years teaching math at Cosgrove Jr. High, he knew how to engage kids through great storytelling, humor and nicknames—he had a nickname for just about everyone. As far as coaching—he was passionate about football. He participated in many sports growing up, but football was his favorite. He “enthusiastically” wanted football in Spencerport so when the Spencerport Rams/Vince Lombardi League opportunity was launched, he jumped in. Not only did he teach the game of football, but he also taught life lessons to his student athletes.

Bob also believed in giving back to the community where he lived and worked. Therefore, he became very active serving as councilman for the Town of Ogden and as mayor for the Village of Spencerport. His community service commitment was close to two decades with a focus on continuous improvement and quality of life for the local residents.

What was most important to Bob were his family and friends. He taught us all how to lead, give back and love—all sprinkled with humor, which he was famous for. He cared deeply for his family, and we are feeling his loss in a monumental way. Please pray for him and for us, we can’t imagine life without him.

Calling hours will be held Monday, January 10th from 3-7pm at Walker Brothers Funeral Home, 15 West Ave., Spencerport. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 11th at 11am at First Congregational Church of Christ, 65 Church St., Spencerport.
