I knew Jim in Spencerport High School. We graduated in 1954. Classmates.com was where I saw Jim's name after that. I was living and working in Southern, CA at the time. I contacted him and we continued our friendship by email and phone and when I made trips back to Spencerport from CA. We kept in touch for at least 15 years before his death. I last spoke to him by phone in late July 2018. He died one day before I returned from a driving trip. He would have awaited my call regarding that trip. I received news of his hospitalization and then his entering Hospice care. My heart goes out to his large family. He came across as gruff, at times, but he always meant well. He understated the good things he did for people. He came off sometimes like it was no big thing. However, as many of you know, he was a hardworking man who went the rest of the way through life without his loving wife, but did have his children and grands and others. He's out of pain and exhaustion, now. He is resting. We all will miss him.

Mr Slobbe was my first little league coach and I always had good memories of that time. He was always patient and kind to a bunch of ADD boys. I just found our team picture last week and reflected back on that time. May he Rest In Peace and my sincere condolences to the family. Pete Reid.
