Obituary of Vera L Arnold

Vera Lucille Arnold Life Story:

Vera peacefully passed on June 7, 2018.  Vera was born on November 16, 1930 in Geff, Illinois to Frank and Florence Burton.  She grew up on a farm in southern Illinois. Their house was across the road from the little country church her family attended. Vera, whom chose to be called Lucille was recently telling a story about a time when her father walked her and her older sister over to the church after an ice storm and they were sliding all the way.  Her father was a farmer and her mother a homemaker and sold encyclopedias and was a 4-H leader.  Lucille’s sibling’s names are Roberta Botkin (deceased), Shirley Jewell (deceased), Clifton Burton (Bonnie). 

After graduating from Cisne High School in Cisne, IL, she attended Cincinnati Bible College in Cincinnati, Ohio where she met Don Arnold.  They were married in 1949.  Don graduated from Bible College and they began a life of serving Jesus Christ as Don ministered in various churches over the years and Lucille worked alongside him in his ministries.  Don and Lucille had 2 children, son, Philip (Joyce Cravens), they adopted 2 children from Taiwan (Nathan and Emily) and daughter, Margaret (Allan Wells) they live in Rochester, NY and have a son (Brandon).

Her husband, Don passed in 1996 after a battle with cancer. 

Lucille moved to the Rochester area in 2010 to be close to her daughter. For the last year she was cared for at Woodside Manor Nursing Home.  The family would like to thank the staff at Woodside for the loving care they provided.

She loved to read her Bible and books about missionaries she had met. She loved attending church and spending time with her church family.

Visitation is on Friday, June 15, 10:00 am and her funeral service will be at 11:00 am both at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Geff, Illinois with interment at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at Anchor Christian Church, 375 Beaver Road in Chili, NY at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Anchor Christian Church, Building Fund, 375 Beaver Road, Rochester, NY 14624 or West Side Christian Church Senior’s Ministry, 2850 Cider Mill Lane, Springfield, IL 62702.
