D'Agostino, Joseph M. Spencerport: August 6, 2016, at the age of 54. He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta (Merle) D'Agostino; children, Melissa (Jason) Woodward, Leah D'Agostino; his parents Felice & Frances (Bonisteel) D'Agostino; brtohers & sisters, Felice (Carol), Suzanne Toke & Daniel D'Agostino; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces & nephews. There may have been things about Joe D'Agostino that were ironic: although slight in stature, his strength outlasted one hundred men; although quiet and calm at first glance, his playful spirit meant he would be the first to cannonball into a swimming pool; although a man of 54 years, his soul and smile were that of a lively boy. Then there were things about Joe that he wore firmly on his sleeve: his kindness and ever present helpful nature, his moral compass, and his unending love for those he cherished, especially his family and friends. The kindness Joe shared with his loved ones was beyond comparison. There were tangible ways to measure his kind heart, like the number of times he would help a person with any home project, whether it be big or small, bringing with him all the tools needed, spending a whole day's time and energy, all the while empowering you with his knowledge and confidence to complete the job. All of this done without an expectation that you needed to return the favor. With an open heart, he shared his knowledge, skills, hands, and personal self whenever asked. And sometimes without asking...he would visit with a chainsaw ready to "cut something down." But the thoughtfulness that went beyond the labor of his hands will be most missed. Joe was that person who encouraged you to challenge yourself with something new for an adventure, that person who quietly, and literally, offers you a hand from a car or a chair, and that person who takes the time to play Legos or Foos Ball with you (if you are under 10 years old.) That was Joe's kindness and it was unmatched in this world. With Joe, the elements that were important to his moral compass were clear: be respectful, work hard and challenge yourself. But it wasn't just a code he lived by. With Joe, the quiet expectation was the same for those who surrounded him ­ be respectful, work hard, and challenge yourself. Through his family and friends, Joe's teaching of kindness, hard work and love will continue honoring the great, great man that this world lost.
