My memories of growing up with my sister, Helen, are racing back through my mind as I grieve her passing.
Helen and our sister"Bud" had no idea a new baby was about to join the family until our Mother and I arrived home from the hospital. A few days later, Helen, tried to bargain with a neighbor to trade me for his cat.
I am already missing our 7:00 PM Saturday phone calls.. We talked every week at the same time for the twenty-five years since my husband, Paul passed away.
I will never forget the expression on Helen's face when I attended Ralph and Helen's 50th anniversary surprise party that Barbara and Pat hosted. I called Helen that morning from my motel room in Rochester, to let her know that I would not be home at 7:00 PM. She thought I was calling from South Carolina . She flew into my arms and we shared a warm hug.
