We are so sorry to hear of Jay's passing. There are so many fond memories of Tom and Todd playing baseball with him, swimming in his pool, and hanging out together as they were growing up. Jay has been a good citizen of North Chili, never venturing very far from home. We will miss him very much. When eating at Jake's he always came over to speak to me and ask about the boys.
Our sympathy is with his wife and brothers and extended family. You will all be in our prayers and thoughts in the days and weeks to come.
Love to you all at this sad time.

To the Alexander Family. I'm so sorry to learn of Jay's untimely passing at such a young age. He was a nice guy and a great friend of the late Big Ed Heberle. They spent a lot of enjoyable time together on "Road Trips" to various local hangouts (which may have influenced Jay to switch from the market to Jakes). I know that he will be missed by his family and many friends.

Our sincere condolences to the Alexander family. We were very sad to hear the news of Jay's passing, and wish the Alexander family peace in their time of loss. We met him through the Lions Club of Chili when we held our meetings at Jake's. He was always very accommodating and kind. May he rest in peace.

I worked for Jay back in 1998 at the Alexanders IGA in North Chili. He was always such a good boss.He had his serious side but boy did he have his fun side. I always enjoyed the meat and subs and salads he sold at the store and was pretty bummed when the store closed. however I now live in Alabama and still enjoy the family meat/ subs from the Holley Farms!!! RIP Jay. Prayers for the family.

Many moons ago, Jay gave a 15 year-old bum a job and helped teach him the value if a dollar, how to put in an honest day's work, and how to appreciate family and friendships. I can't thank you enough for the life lessons I learned in the years I worked at Alexander's with Jay and the family. If you left half the impression on others as you left with me, then you will be missed beyond words. Rest in peace Jay.

Jay did alot of special things for me personally and went out of his way to assist me in taking care of my 41 Soldiers during the holidays for our banquets. He (and his crew at Jake's) made my two years in Rochester very enjoyale. I have fond memories of him and was sad to hear of his passing. Rest in Peace friend. -- US Army First Sergeant Brian Knott, Puerto Rico.
